During the British colonial era in 19th century, the Chinese migrants liked to have a cup of Nanyang (the southern sea) coffee before going to work as tin miners. The coffee was roasted with margarine, sugar and wheats which is thick and dark. Today, the beverage has become Malaysia specialty and a common breakfast drink.
Enhanced from the traditional hand roasted “Kopitiam” Nanyang coffee, this blend combined the fruity, nutty taste of the Arabica beans, Robusta or the Ipoh white coffee into the traditional margarine and sugar roasted black coffee to create stronger coffee aroma while maintaining the original Malaysian Nanyang Kopi buttery, smoky scent.
The beans are hand roasted daily using the traditional technique from Ipoh, the town where the white coffee originated. Beans are delivered from the roasting plant almost daily and never stored for long period of time. You may taste a lot of differences between this and the prepacked coffee powder bought from supermarket.
